License Troubleshooting
Using SOX for the First Time
First Use License Server Connectivity
Especially when newly integrating SOX into your organisation, there can be issues with your existing IT safety infrastructure, preventing SOX from communicating with our license server. In this case, please get in contact with your IT department with the request of implementing an exception in your company firewall accordingly.
Adding or Replacing a License
Delete and Reactivate Licenses
When activating an additional license, p.e. to unlock additional modules or as a replacement for an expirend license, it can occur that the new license can not be activated. In this case it can help to delete the existing .lic files on your PC. To do so, close the SOX client and navigate to C:\Users\*your username*\sox2\licenses (there is a .sox2 and a sox2 folder in your user folder. In this case, you need the latter). Delete every .lic file in this folder.
You can now start your SOX client and activate you license key(s) in the usual manner via Help → License Manager → Activate Key.
Uninstall and Reinstall SOX
Should deleting the .lic files not result in you being able to successfully activate your license, you can uninstall and reinstall the SOX client on your PC.
In case you are working with a local respository, start by exporting your projects right-click on a project → Export → SOX Project Export. In the Dialog, select Folder to create a local export of your project. Repeat this process for each of your local projects.
You can now uninstall SOX from your PC. Next, delete all files from your PC associated with SOX. To do so, it is most practical to use the search function of the file explorer to identify all relevant folders.
Once everything is deleted, install SOX on your computer again. You can take this aas an opportunity to check the download section of our website if you are using the latest version of SOX.
When starting your newly installed SOX for the first time, connect to your companie’s remote respository or create a new local respository. You should now be able to activate your license key without issues.
If necessary, import your exported SOX projects by right-clicking the Respository View and selecting Import SOX Project.
