Open the File menu.
Choose Import > BOM Import. - Outcome: the BOM import wizard will open.
For the import to succeed, a file formatted according to one of the two templates indicated is required. Only if you have such a file prepared should you use the Browse... button to navigate to your target file. In all other scenarios, you should start the process by opening a template, which you edit and export as required. The resultant file will then be available for re-import by any SOX user. Any attempt to import an Excel file whose formatting does not match one of the templates is liable to fail, with SOX reporting an error of this general form:
We demonstrate the following steps premised on opening the SN29500 template in the first instance.
After clicking on the button highlighted above, you will need to locate and open a file named “BOM_SN29500_Import_With_Mapping.xlsx”. We placed a copy of it in the “Documents” folder for simplicity’s sake. - Outcome: the import dialog will register this selection and prompt you for the next step.
Click on Next. - Outcome: the "Select options" dialog will open.
Make selections to suit your use case.
Click Next. - Outcome: you may be shown a message as suggested below:
Acknowledge the message by clicking Next or Finish. - Outcome: if you clicked on Next, the dialog "Mapping of imported elements" will open.
Click on Finish.
Outcome: a BOM was imported and added to the repository.
