Setting up Your Workspace and Repository
Having launched the SOX client application, you will be asked to determine your workspace and choice of working method for repositories (local vs. remote). For our scenario, the assumption is that you wish to work with locally stored repositories. Next, perform the steps suggested by the screenshots below. - Also see:Workspace and Repositories (this information is particularly relevant if you do not wish to use the suggested defaults for your workspace and repository)this example, a local respository will be used.

First Login (Default Values)
Enter the User ID: Administrator.

As a default, there is a folder called “workspace” (see above) in the folder into which you installed SOX. You can also choose select or create another folder by clicking on Browse…

If you always want to use make this folder in the futureyour default, click on the check box checkbox at the bottom of the dialog.
(If you choose this option, you can still select another workspace later: on the SOX menu bar, go to
File > Switch Workspace. Your most recently used workspaces will also be visible there.
Approve the selected folder by clicking OK.

The Example Projects
To help familiarize you with the product semantics and method, SOX comes with example projects. We shall discuss here In the following example, the “Automatic Rear Spoiler” demo project will be shown.
On the menu bar, click on Help, then Example Projects.
Select “Automatic Rear Spoiler”. Click on Next.
The following screen will prompt ask you for your target folder into which to import the project. Click Browse and navigate to a directory of your choice. Our example scenario uses the “Projects” folder. Confirm your selection by clicking OK.
Outcome: SOX will display the Import Summary. As noted on the screen, after clicking Next (instead of Finish) you may review, and - where appropriate -, edit the catalog and employee settings. Our example assumes that the user browses the subsequent screens without actually making any changes.
Outcome: after After clicking Next, SOX will represent show the Catalog assignment.
Outcome: after After clicking Finish, you may select which diagrams and/or documents, if any, SOX will open and display with the project. For illustration’s sake, we presume that you elect to have . In this example all diagrams and documents openwill be opened.
Outcome: consequent to After making suitable choices on the previous dialog, SOX will open the example project, displaying the topmost diagram or document (in the example, Activity Diagram “Calculate Speed”).
To review the SysML diagrams, expand the SysML 1.4 model found in the Model Explorer (as highlighted above). Double-click on any diagram - in the example, “Security Asset Definition” - to open and display it:
