SOX License Management
Types of Licenses
Floating Licenses
Floating licenses are the default license type for EnCo SOX.
After a floating license has been purchased, every user can acticate SOX on their system using the same license key. While this license key can be activated on any number of PCs, only the predefined number of users can uns SOX at the same time.
Once SOX has been closed or is not running properly anymore for any reason, the user is automatically logged out to make room for other users.
Commuted Licenses
Commuted licenses offer an alternative for enviroments in which communication with the license server is hindered or not possible at all.
Insted of working the license server, a commuted license is bound to the respective PC on which it will be used via a Hardware ID which can be generated within the SOX Workbench’S License Manager.
To generate your Hardware ID, open the SOX client and navigate to Help → License Manager. In the License Manager, click the Copy ID to clipboard. You can now forward this Hardware ID to your SOX Support employee to receive a commuted license.
You will then receive a zip-file in which you will find your license key as a .lic file as well as your license in plain text. The .lic license file must be saved locallyin the folder C:/User/*Your Username*/SOX2/licenses.
License Request
In case your SOX license has expired or you want to request an evaluation license to test the capabilities of the SOX modular workbench, you can place a license request via the desktop client.
To do so, open the License Manager via Help → License Manager.
In the License Manager, navigate to the Request License tab. Enter your name, the company name and your contact information by phone and email. Afterwards, select for which modules you want to request a license and conirm your entries with OK.
Activating a License Key
To activate a new Floating lLicense key, navigate to the License Manager via Help → License Manager in the desktop client. Here, the Activate Key button opens the corresponding menu in which you can past your Floating License key.
Confirm your key either by replacing your existing license via the Replace exiating button or click the Register new button to either activate your first license or to add another license to your currently active one.
Troubleshooting
License Server Access
The SOX License Server is a 443 standard HTTPS server. In case you are unable to activate your license or are unable to use SOX due to license issues, you can check if you can access the license server via the following link: https://license.enco-cloud.com.
You will get an error that you are UNAUTHORIZED. Receiving this message means you are able to access the license server from your IT infrastructure. In this case, please get in contact so we can assess the issues you are facing further.
If you do not receive this message, access to the license server is probably blocked within your IT infrastructure. Access must be granted by your IT department.
Replacing an Existing License Key
In case you have received a new license key while an old key is still active in your SOX installation, it can happen that you are unable to activate the new key. In this case, you can manually delete the lod licese file (.lic) in the folder C:\Users\*your username*\sox2\licenses.
After restarting the RCP client, there should be no license visible in the license manager and you should be able to successfully activate your new license key.
