TARA Catalogs
Your TARA files can either be populated via catalogs or, in the context of the SOX RCP Workbenchen, using System Design diagrams. You can find instructions regarding the latter here: Item Definition And Asset Identification Based on Design
In SOX, there is a distinction between Global TARA Catalogs and Local TARA Catalogs. Global Catalogs can be accessed throughout your SOX projects within a respository. Local Catalogs are only available for one project. Adding a Global Catalog Entry to a TARA file will create a copy within the Local Catalog folder of your project. Any changes will be made in the TARA will reflect in the Local Catalog only.
Global Catalogs
You can find the Global Catalogs in the Catalogs View. You can access the Catalogs View by clicking the -icon on the left of the web-based interface. Here, you will find a predefined list of TARA catalogs within the TARA folder.
Right-clicking the TARA Catalogs folder or somewhere within the folder opens a context-menu via which you can create folders and new catalog files. New catalogs can be created within a folder structure within the TARA Catalogs folder. Given it is the correct catalog type, its location will have no effect on its contents being usable in the TARA.
Create a New Catalog
To create a new global TARA Catalog, select Create Catalog from the context menu.
A dialog opens in which you can enter a unique name for your new catalog as well as optionally a description.
Under Object Type, you can select a catalog type from among the options relevant for a TARA.
In the Configuration drop-down, select the Global option.
In the context of the TARA, it is not necessary to select a Norm here.
Populating a Global Catalog
To populate a Catalog, click the -icon to create a new row.
You can now double-click the cells inside your new catalog row to populate them either via a textbox or a text-box is offered where you can select from among multiple choicelists.
Project Catalogs
When creating your first TARA within a project, a Project Catalogs Folder is automatically created containing a local Assets-, Damage Scenarios-, Attack Paths-, and Attack Steps catalog.
Project Catalogs can be populated just like global Catalogs by adding a new line via the -icon to add a new line and double-clicking a cell to edit it.
Adding Catalog Entries to a TARA
When populating a TARA, the contents of the relevant catalogs are displayed in the respective drop-down menu. Entries from a global catalog are indicated by a -icon.
Adding an object from a global catalog adds a copy of that object in the corresponding Project Catalog. Any changes made in the TARA will reflect in the local copy, not in the global catalog.
It is also possible to add a new line to the TARA via drag-and-drop by grabbing an entry from a global- or project catalog at the -area and dragging it into the empty space underneath the TARA table. Adding an entry from a global catalog this way also results in a local copy being created.
