Creating a New Failure Rate Catalog

Prerequisite: the Catalogs view is active.

 

  1. Right-click on the Public folder.

  2. Choose New > Failure rate catalog (IEC62380 or SN29500) - Outcome: the dialog "New IEC62380/SN29500 Catalog" will open.

     

  3. Use the Browse button to specify the file location.

  4. The Catalog ID will be set automatically.

  5. Enter a Name for the catalog.

  6. Optionally, enter a Description.

  7. Click Finish.

Outcome: a new catalog was created and opened in the editor.

A failure rate catalog is subdivided into categories and failure mode types.


Creating Categories

Prerequisites: a catalog was created and the catalog editor is active.

  1. Right-click on the catalog in the editor.

  2. Choose New > Category. - Outcome: the dialog "Create new Category" will open.

  3. Enter a Name for the category.

  4. Click OK to finish or Save & proceed to create further categories.

Outcome: a category was created.

To create sub-categories you need first to select a parent category and then repeat the procedure
for creating categories.


Creating Component Types

Prerequisite: a component category was created.

 

 

  1. Right-click on the category folder that you want to contain the component type.

     

  2. Choose New > Component type. - Outcome: the dialog "Create new Component Type" will open.

  3. Enter a name for the component type.

  4. Click OK to finish or Save & proceed to create further component types.

Outcome: a new component type was created and added to the selected category.

Now the component type can be edited in the Details part of the Catalog editor.
